Service Project Updates - First Semester, 2020, in Review
The committee has made three successful pick-ups!!! Thanks to all that contributed. We have collected a total 5,697 items. These items were distributed to Forbes’ House (2,853 items), Rainbow’s (409 items), and 68 Hours of Hunger (2,435 items). Our December collection is for Rainbow’s hospital. We are collecting these items: Shampoo/Conditioner, Denture Care: cream/cleaning, Tooth Care: toothpaste/toothbrush/floss, Eye Care: Contact solution/cases, Body Care: Deodorant /body wash
Please remember to send the new/unopened specific items listed. Charities have specific needs and will only receive those items. If you have items not listed, save them. You can always donate them to a charity in need of those extra items. We will be collecting for Forbes House-- diapers and books in February and April. In March, we will collect for Rainbows and Babies. Thank you for your generosity. The Service Committee |

The Gamma Theta Chapter has made another generous donation to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital. Last year we collected 669 toiletry items for individuals with unanticipated extended emergency stays. Carol, a Rainbows representative and worker, recently arranged to pick up all of the donated items. She was very appreciative and expressed how great the need is for their patients.
This project will continue into the 2020-2021 year. Rainbows would like our partnership to continue and are asking for these specific travel sized items:

Twenty one teachers helped four hundred eighty Lake County students create beautiful crafts to brighten the days of nursing home residents in Lake County. Our members tagged, boxed and delivered these crafts at our February meeting for delivery later that month or earlier March. Due to Covid 19, a cookie and punch reception with local students, members and residents of Symphony Nursing home was cancelled, but crafts were still delivered to them, as well. Nine nursing homes in our area received crafts. This was truly a great service project! Students learned the art of giving to our senior citizens just before a time when quarantine would be imminent. Sue Leffler's granddaughter made 50 Bee Valentines for The Lantern in Madison where her grandpa is a resident. This project was a great community outreach and collaboration touching so many lives. Thank you to all who made this successful!
