My name is McKayla Lange, and I am currently a sophomore at Bowling Green State University, majoring in Art Education. My educational aspirations include earning a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, as well as earning a K-12 license, in which I will receive specific training and real classroom experience with students at elementary, middle school and high school levels. My long-term dream career is to someday teach in an elementary school, where I can create an educational, creative, safe space for both the students and myself. Art and children have both always been passions of mine. Growing up, art class was always my favorite, and today, the art room continues to be my favorite space to learn.
In 2019, I was awarded an Honorable Mention for an artwork shown in the Cleveland Clinic eXpressions show. In class, I completed medical research and created an artwork to represent what I had learned. My artwork, An Abstract Mind, was shown and published, and I was also given a cash prize for my Honorable Mention award. In 2017, I had a painting shown in the Lakeland Community College show, also given an Honorable Mention Award. Additionally in 2017, I had two different works shown in the Huntington Mortgage Group show. In the fall of 2018, I had an artwork shown at Art in the Park, located at the Painesville Square, in which I won third place overall. Throughout high school, I also participated in artistic extracurriculars such as eXpressions, the Chalk Festival, the annual pumpkin |
